Valle Edén

Valle Edén

In the middle of spectacular hilly landscape of Valle Edén stands the Carlos Gardel museum, where the audiovisual registers exhibited make it clear that the Magician was from Tacuarembó country. Birth certificates and other documents attest to the nationality of the best representative of Tango. Visiting the exhibition is also a good excuse to see a beautiful place like Valle Edén. Taking advantage of this trip you can tour the railway station, as it adjoins the grounds and is where the Argentinean film Corazón de fuego, starring Federico Luppi, Héctor Alterio, Pepe Soriano and Gastón Pauls, was filmed. The station has a barbecue.
Laureles

Laureles

Adventure and ecotourism make Tacuarembó unique. In Laureles, in the northeast of the department, almost on the border with Salto and Rivera, sites worth visiting are waiting, amazing natural spaces blessed with waterfalls and ravines with areas suitable for bathing. In the middle of Cuchilla de Haedo near the Laurels stream, there are several trails which vary in their degree of difficulty and length. Horseback riding, bird watching, bathing in pools of crystalline water and many other adventures are presented to the traveler. Some of the hikes, such as the one called La Leyenda, are only suitable for horseback riding or for people who are trained.
