  • When do flights arrive and depart?
    Information regarding estimated times of arrivals and departures are provided by the airlines. You will be able to access “Arrivals” and “Departures” to obtain such information or you can contact our Customer Service Center at (+598) 2604.02.72 or calling our Front Desk at (+598) 2604.03.29 extension 1637.
  • Who to contact in case of lost suitcases or baggage?
    If your suitcases or any personal belongings have gone missing during your trip, you should contact the respective airline. (At Arrivals there is a specialized counter to help you with these claims). If they were lost in the airport you must contact Airport’s Air National Police at 604.03.29 extension 1211..
  • What are the ticket fares and flight promotions, destinations and frequencies of the airlines?
    If you need to have information on these issues the best option is to ask the airline or a travel agent. To obtain more information please go to “Airlines”.
  • How much is the Boarding Fee??
    Payment for boarding services can be made in American Dollars or in Uruguayan Pesos. The fare is:
    • International flights U$S 31,00
    • Commuter Flights (Montevideo – Buenos Aires) U$S 17,00
    • Domestic flights U$S 2,00
  • Is it possible to use Credit Cards to pay for Boarding Fee?
    Yes. The Credit Cards that can be used to pay for Boarding Fee are:
    • Visa
    • Visa Electron
    • Master
    • Maestro
    • Diners
    • American Express
  • When can I apply for an exemption of the payment of air ticket fares or Boarding Fees?
    To be entitled to benefit from the exemption in the payment of air ticket fares you will have to ask the respective airline. Please take into account that exemptions apply to:
    • Children under two years of age.
    • Passengers in transit with proper accreditation provided by the airline.
    • Diplomats and authorities of International Entities under reciprocity regimen.
    • Crew members whose names are declared in the flight manifesto.
    • Honorary Consuls with accreditations before the Government of the Republica Oriental del Uruguay and in conformity with Decree number 45/2000 from February 17th, 2000.
    • Official Guests (Decree 161/985 from April 30th, 1985)
  • What taxes does Customs require to be paid?
    For international flights and Commuter Flights (Montevideo – Buenos Aires), you will be able to bring the following with you when arriving into the country:

    Exempt from taxes: Clothing and personal belongings. Books, newspapers and brochures of no commercial purpose.

    Tax exemption for other items: Incoming passengers from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile and Paraguay will have an additional tax exemption of U$S 300 (American Dollars) on other items they carry into the country. Incoming passengers from other countries will have an exemption ofU$S 500(American Dollars) . This exemption will be allowed only once a year.

    All tax exemptions for passengers are individual and non-transferable. In cases when passengers constitute a conjugal society any amount that surpluses each individual’s right to the above mentioned tax exemption, will not be allowed to be transferred to the spouse as a part of what constitutes his or hers individual right to said tax exemption.

    Passengers under 18 years of age will benefit from 50% of the corresponding tax exemption.

    *An additional benefit or U$S 300 (American Dollars), or its equivalent in another currency for goods acquired at the Arrivals Duty Free Shops will be granted. Limitations: in the case of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages coming from other countries that are not part of the MERCOSUR, a maximum of two liters of beverages and two cartons of cigarettes will be permitted.

    *Payment of Customs Duty: all items with no commercial purposes exceeding the limit of U$S 300 (American Dollars) will be kept in custody of the Customs Office. Such items will be released after payment of an only duty charge of 50% on the value of the goods. If such payment of the corresponding duties is not made within 5 working days, the goods will be considered as “in abandonment” and the National Direction of Customs will proceed to auction them.

    *Non-declared items or goods that are being introduced into the country in concealment, double bottoms or special compartments of the luggage, among the clothes worn by the passenger or in any other way with the intention of eluding supervision and control, will enable Customs to initiate the litigious proceedings for smuggling. Under these circumstances, a Detention Report will be issued.

  • Are there restrictions about some articles being brought into the country by passengers?
    Yes. In these cases some items will be allowed in the country but import laws and regulations will apply and sanitary controls will be carried out.
    Passengers are not allowed to bring with them:
    • vegetables, their parts or products related to them.
    • Fresh fruit and produce.
    • Seeds, art craft made with seeds and vegetable products.
    • Flowers, ornamental plants and in-vitro cultures.
    • Dirt, soil, fruit plants, produce products, fodder in any form, forestry of any kind or their parts: branches, stems, stakes, thorns, buds, bulbs and others.
    • Liquid milk (except long life milk), butter, eggs, cream and cheese.
    • Domestic animals: birds, exotic specimens, bees and others.
    • Meat of any kind, cold cuts and charcuterie.
    • Food for animals and biological or veterinarian by-products.
    • Flammables, alkaloids, narcotics, obscene objects, subversive or pornographic material.
    • Items that don’t belong to the passenger and carried by him/her.

    Exception: personal belongings that were being used by residents of Customs Territory, who passed away abroad. Official certification of death will be necessary to prove ownership of those items.
    • Goods that are not luggage or that are restricted or banned even when they do not have an economic value.
  • Is there a specific protocol to bring cellular phones into the country?
    Yes. Every cellular phone that is brought into the country and which purpose is to get a national cellular telephone line to be used in the national territory, must be declared before the National Direction of Customs upon the passenger’s arrival.

    Passengers returning to the country: these passengers will be able to introduce their cellular phones using the traveller’s tax exemption (invoice to prove the item’s value will be required). In case the cell phone exceeds the allowed value the passenger will have to pay duties for the corresponding in-excess amount.
    Tourist: tourists will be able to bring their cell phones into the country using the tax exemption conditions as long as the items they bring with them and in their luggage are not to stay in the territory or are not to be used for commercial purposes.
    Customs Office will input all the specific data into the Information System stating: brand, model, serial number and Passenger’s Identity Card number or Passport number.   • What are the proceedings that must be carried out to transport animals?
    *From MERCOSUR countries, America and Europe: Pets (Cats and Dogs).

    A sanitary certificate issued by the locality of origin Cattle and Agriculture Ministry must be presented. Such document must state the sanitary condition of the animal and that the Vaccination against Rabies was given to it. The animal and the sanitary certification must be presented before the Zoo Sanitary Control Office of the Fishing, Cattle and Agriculture Ministry at the entrance point into the national territory.

    *From other countries: Pets (Cats and Dogs) an incoming permit stating specific sanitary controls to be implemented by the country of origin will be required and the specific information that this certification must express will have to be requested in our country in advance to the arrival in the national territory. In the case of pure bred cats and dogs (or any other pure bred species: birds, mammals, reptiles, batrachian, etc.) a request for an import permit must be presented in advance before the Ministry of Fishing, Cattle and Agriculture (MGAP – Department of International Commerce. 1476 Constituyente Av.     Sanitary controls of the animal and of the documents will be carried out by the offices of the Ministry of Fishing, Cattle and Agriculture at the point of entry into the national territory.   • How to get information about baggage excess?
    Regarding vault baggage for domestic and international flights, as particular policies established by each airline apply and they differ between them, you should contact your airline to be sure you do not have excess of baggage.
  • How to move baggage inside the Airport?
    All passengers at this Airport can use both, in Arrivals and in Departures, baggage carts to transport baggage and other belongings.

    Payment for Boarding Fee may be done in American Dollars or in Uruguayan Pesos. Also, payment can be done with the following credit cards: Mastercard, Visa, Visa Electron or Diners or with Debito Maestro debit card.
