Charrúa Museum

Charrúa Museum

The Charrúas museum, Images and Testimonies of Destiny is, without doubt, the most attractive in Durazno. There you can relive the history of these indigenous people and learn how this tribe was perceived in Uruguay and in the world, through a modern, delicate and didactic approach which recreates the era in which the Charrúas populated national territory. In the exhibit boleadoras (a tool to hunt animals) and spearheads from that time are on display. The museum has a guide who explains the characteristics of each existing piece and activates novel mechanisms to present the Charrúa’s history in a very pleasant way. The architecture of the museum is very particular as it has three sectors which simulate the form of the boleadoras buried in the ground, which makes it very attractive from the beginning of the tour. Address: South entrance, Avenida Garibaldi. Telephone: 4362 1601.
