This department offers a wide variety of attractions. To the north of the department is Carmelo, a place which is known as the José Ignacio of the west, due to the exclusivity of its hotels and the high level of its cuisine. Then, on the Río de la Plata, we find Colonia del Sacramento with its historical trips and very close to there, some of the most beautiful beaches on the Río de la Plata.

The smooth hilly landscape that Sierras de Mahoma provides is one of the main attractions of a department which is growing in rural tourism thanks to the upscale tourist estanicas (ranches). San José de Mayo is perfect for an historical outing and on the coast you can find interesting resorts such as Kiyú (whose ravines attract your attention) and perfect places for sailing, such as Bocade Cufré.
